The Ringly Wearable Tech Ring

Convergent1-Ringly-New-Technology

Wearable technology is all the rage today with devices becoming smaller, and their list of features getting longer. It seems like every item has a smart version from glasses to wristwatches. With Ringly, we now have the option of slipping a state-of-the-art gadget onto our fingers.

What It Is

Ringly appears as a rather large but lightweight ring with a gem on top and no immediate hint of dazzling technology on the surface. That is, until it starts to glow and vibrate like a piece of superhero kit. It is designed to alert the user of common notifications so that the phone can be set aside for most of the day. Different colors and vibration patterns can be assigned to each type of notification. It can be charged via USB through its cradle. The mobile app has a simple interface for changing the settings.

What It Isn’t

The diminutive size of Ringly prevents it from carrying a screen that would show texts from the notifications. Users will only know the existence of new messages and their origin but not their actual content. People will still have to reach for their phone to read them. They are designed to be simple and efficient little gadgets that disguise themselves as fashion statements.

Is It Worth Buying?

Whether this piece of technology is worth the purchase or not depends on the needs of the consumer. At $200, Ringly is not cheap at all. More robust gadgets can be bought for a lesser amount. However, it provides users with the ability to finally stay away from their phone. They will only need to get it when important alerts come in. This will allow them to focus more on their job and other responsibilities, instead of wasting hours fiddling with their mobile. The increase in productivity may be enough to merit its acquisition; therefore, consumers who may benefit from this form of technology should keep a close eye on it.
